Ok.  So I wrote a book several years ago.  Never published it.  And, until recently, I didn’t know why. Now I do. Below is a small excerpt from it:

Hopelessness, I know, can seem like an abyss of nothingness in your heart craving to be filled with something you just don’t have. It is like someone hooked a giant sucking machine to you and sucked out all the life—I’ve been there.  I’ve felt it. At one point in my journey, after my mother had dropped me off and left me downtown, I looked to the left, to the right, up, down, all around, and, immediately sunk into the awareness of desiring death over life.

When it comes to suffering in our lives, I agree with Drs. John Townsend and Henry Cloud, who say the way we solve problems divides us into two groups: those who end at the problem and those who [live] beyond the problem.

It’s funny, I wrote the above paragraphs about 7 years ago and now I find myself seeing this as a foriegn concept almost.  I mean, I agree that some of us “end” at our problems and some “begin.”  But what’s really amusing to me is that, at the time, I didn’t really seem to understand chronic problems. Man do I now!

I’d love for you to read next week’s blog to learn how I now understand chronic pain/problems and how I now see suffering and what I believe is a better view.

Gratefully,

Jeff
