The Restoring Lives Project was born in the gap that exists between those suffering homelessness and the resources that can help. We are the bridge between you (wherever you are) and those suffering with homelessness. We believe, in large part, homelessness to be a systemic concern with the tragic breakdown of the family at it’s core. We aim to mend this brokenness through creating and fostering a community of healing.
FIRST, WE PROVIDE RELIEF TO HELP ‘STOP THE BLEEDING’ (WE GO OUT INTO THE HOMELESS COMMUNITY AND MEET BASIC NEEDS). SECOND, WE ARE DEVELOPING THE GAP PROGRAM (GROOM, ACCESS AND PREPARE. THESE ARE MOBILE SHOWER AND WASHER UNITS BUILT FROM RECYCLABLE MATERIALS: RETIRED CITY BUSSES, SHIPPING CARTS, ETC). IN THE FUTURE, WE AIM TO PROVIDE REHABILITATION AND SKILL BUILDING. THIRD, AFTER RELIEF EFFORTS AND REHABILITATION HAVE GAINED TRACTION IN A PERSON’S LIFE, DEVELOPMENT BEGINS, WHERE A PERSON SLOWLY REINTEGRATES INTO SOCIETY (HOW THIS LOOKS DEPENDS ON YOUR’S AND OTHER’S SUPPORT).
Alone, Angie, the crew and myself can do very little. Together though, we can help lessen the weight of the ‘poverty of the soul’ these wonderful people live under. If you know Angie, myself or the team, you know this: we are hardly short on love and passion for the broken. Our love and desire to see others rise above demoralizing circumstances creates a need for you though. You see, we want to share our love and passion with the world, but we can only do this with your help. Will you join us in loving the people of Colorado Springs, Denver and Tulsa? It’s a big dream, I know. But our hearts won’t allow it to die!
I (Jeff) remember the day like it was yesterday: It hit me at 6 a.m. on a hot summer day while waiting outside the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless with my head on my black bag. The dream opened up my chest. It reached in and squeezed my heart...“Somehow I will rise out of this nightmare...and when I do, I will spend my life making a way for others to do the same!”
You are the reality of that dream coming to life!
